Employers can extend the exit re-entry visa of a skilled worker who is outside Saudi Arabia from the Absher Business website, with no visit to a passport office. Jawazat set out the seven clicks in a post reported on 26 September 2026. Only the business owner or an authorised representative can submit it, and the extension has to be requested before the visa expires.

What Jawazat announced

In September 2026 the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) explained how employers can extend exit and re-entry visas for professional workers who are currently outside the Kingdom. Ajel reported the overview on 12 September, and the step-by-step version on 26 September.

The service is for business owners or their authorised representatives. It is done electronically, so the worker does not need to be in Saudi Arabia and nobody needs to attend a passport office.

The steps on Absher Business

  1. Log in to the Absher Business website.
  2. Open My Business Services.
  3. Select Services.
  4. Open Visas.
  5. Choose the establishment.
  6. Select the worker.
  7. Choose Extend Exit and Re-Entry Visa.

The announcements stop at the service name. After you choose it, follow the on-screen prompts for the new return date and payment, then check the confirmation before the worker books a flight.

Before the employer starts

The visa has not expiredExtension is for a live visa. An expired one needs a different route.
The Iqama stays valid long enoughSecondary reports citing Jawazat say it should have at least 90 days left, and the extension cannot run past Iqama expiry.
The person submitting is authorisedOnly the owner or an authorised representative can use the service.
Sponsor and worker records are cleanAn absconding, death or recruitment-violation record can stop the request.

The Iqama and record conditions come from a secondary report, Wego’s 2026 extension guide, not from the two Jawazat announcements. Confirm them on the Absher Business screen.

What it costs

Neither announcement states a fee. The rate we publish for extending from abroad is SAR 200 for each added month on a single visa and SAR 400 for each added month on a multiple visa, and it is paid through SADAD. Work out your own figure on the extension page, and compare it with the issue fee. The amount on the payment screen is the one that counts.

If you are the worker

Ask your employer to extend before the visa end date, not on it. Send them your Iqama number and the date you plan to return, and ask for the confirmation. Keep it with your ticket. If you can issue your own visas on Absher, see the exit re-entry visa guide.

Questions

Can a worker extend their own exit re-entry visa from abroad on Absher Business?

Absher Business is the employer side. Jawazat describes the service for business owners or their authorised representatives, so the worker asks the employer to submit it. Individuals can use their own Absher account for personal and family visas.

Does Jawazat say how much the extension costs?

Not in the two announcements reported in September 2026. The published rate we carry is SAR 200 a month for a single visa and SAR 400 a month for a multiple visa when extending from abroad. The payment screen shows the amount that applies.

Does the worker need to visit a passport office?

No. Jawazat describes the process as fully electronic for professional workers who are outside the Kingdom.

What if the visa has already expired?

The steps above are for extending before expiry. An expired visa follows a different route, and your Iqama can be affected, so start with the extension guide and contact your employer immediately.
